Translation

Translation.

We have this day received at the hands of Mr. McLean on the Ninth day of March in 1854. 9 March. the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty four 1854 the Sum of Nopera’s Claims. Thirty Pounds Sterling (£30) Two Blankets One Piece Calico and Twenty Pounds Receipt for money and goods. weight of Tobacco in payment for the whole of the Lands we claim at Manukau, Waitemata Tamaki and Papakura, that is to say the whole of the Lands claimed by us and adjacent to the district of Auckland.

Thus have we made an entire surrender of the whole of the Lands specified within the above named Districts to Victoria the Queen of England for ever and ever.
