This Deed1873 20 MayHauraki District. made the twentieth day of May one thousand eight hundred and seventy
three Between Rapana Maunganoa an aboriginal Native Chief of Hauraki Province of
Auckland and Colony of New Zealand of the one part and Her Majesty Queen
Victoria of the other part Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of One
thousand three hundred and fifty pounds to the said Rapana Maunganoa by Her
Majesty paid (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) He the said Rapana
Maunganoa doth hereby convey and assure unto her said Majesty her heirs
successors and assigns All the estate right title interest property claim and
demand whatsoever of him the said Rapana Maunganoa of and to all that piece or
parcel of land described in the schedule hereto With all the rights and
appurtenances thereto belonging To hold the same unto her said Majesty her heirs
successors and assigns for ever In Witness whereof the said parties have
hereunto subscribed their names.

previously read over and interpreted to him in the Maori language when he
seemed perfectly to understand the same and made his mark thereto) in the
