Translation.

This Deed conveying Land, written on this twenty second 22 day of January in the1856. 22 January.Wairarapa District. Year 1856, is a Deed of our full consent to sell a certain portion of our land to Victoria the Queen of England and to the Kings or Queens who may succeed Her for ever and ever. The boundaries of the land commence at te Pa-o-Ngatiawa thence to te Pare thence to te Wakarua thence in the course of the stream to Puiaroa thence to te Whangai-a-te-KapengaMaungaraki.(Arama's land.) turning thence it runs Northwards in the course of the stream to the mouth of the Whangai, thence falling into the Wainuioru it runs in a NortherlyBoundaries. direction to Hikuwai thence to te Motu-o-te-Harapaki, thence to te Pirau-o-Hinewai thence to te Koparoa thence to Kaweriri thence to Nga-awa-purua turning thence it proceeds to te Hanga-o-te-Kawerau thence to Kaihuka thence to te Pa-o-Ngatiawa where the boundaries meet. When the LandReceipt for £100, advance. has been surveyed and perambulated, the payment will be finally settled. The money we have received on account of the land, on this 22nd day of January 1856 from Donald McLean is One Hundred Pounds £100 . 0 . 0.
