Otangaroa No. 3 Block, Hokianga District.

This Deed made the nineteenth day of June 1875, between Her Majesty Queen 1875. 19 June.Hokianga District. Victoria on the one part and Wiremu Te Tai, Wirikake Wharetohunga, Heremia Te Wake, Timoti Puhipi, Pireki Te Tekenui, Tawio Pou, Hotene Te Kanohi and Akinihi Otangaroa No. III. Papahia of Hokianga Aboriginal Natives of the Colony of New Zealand (hereinafter called "the Vendors ") of the other part witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of Four hundred and ninety six pounds (£496 . 0 . 0) by Her Majesty paid to the Vendors on the execution hereof (and the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) the Vendors Receipt for £496. do and each of them doth hereby surrender convey and assure unto Her said Majesty all that block or parcel of land containing Four thousand eight hundred and seventy six acres or thereabout known or called " Otangaroa No. 3" as the same is more particularly described in the Schedule hereto and delineated in the plan drawn on this Deed and coloured red together with all rights and appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining. To hold the said land and premises with the appurtenances unto Her said page 124Majesty Her Heirs and Successors for ever. In Witness whereof the Vendors have hereunto set their hands the day and year first above written.

Kanohi and Akinihi Papahia after the contents had been explained to them by an Interpreter of the Court and they appearing thereby to understand the meaning of the same In the presence of—

Boundaries [4,876 acres.]Bounded—Towards the East by Otangaroa No. 4 Block thirty-nine thousand and nineteen (39019) links; towards the South by lines six hundred and twenty-two (622) links, eight thousand and twenty-nine (8029) links, two thousand six hundred and thirty (2630) links, four thousand three hundred (4300) links, and one thousand three hundred and sixty-four (1364) links; towards the West by the Otangaroa No. 2 Block twenty-two thousand and ninety-five (22095) links, the Awaroa No. 1 Block six thousand three hundred and forty-six (6346) links, and the Manganui-o-Wae Block eight thousand six hundred and eighty-seven (8687) links; and towards the North by the said Manganui-o-Wae Block eight thousand two hundred and fifteen (8215) links.
