The Founders of Canterbury

Reigate, 28th September, 1849

Reigate, 28th September, 1849.

My Dear Godley,

—Yours just received squares with mine of last night.

If you do not forbid me, I shall ask Wynter to dine here on Monday (at six), in the hope that you may be able to overcome his Nolo episcopari. He is still a keen Canterbury man. It would indeed be a grand point to get a Bishop who has been devouring our books, Grahame, &c., &c., and is now full of our ideas. A meeting with you may affect him as we wish, and is surely worth trying.

Ever yours,

E. G. Wakefield.
