Parking Crisis

Parking Crisis

"The parking crisis gradually appears certain," says a writer in Waikato's student paper Kato.

"At present, due to the siting of the university and also the lack of hostel and transport facilities, a large number of people have to use their cars or motorcycles to attend university."

Working on the Hamilton City Council ordinance for parking, the writer suggests that Waikato University will soon become surrounded with asphalt deserts.

Cars cannot be banned, yet their parking areas will absorb much valuable land, the writer concludes.

"Only one solution is left," he says. "An architect - designed parking building to be handy to all buildings and in sympathy with the site."
