The Ancient History of the Maori, His Mythology and Traditions. Awatea, Taranaki, Nga-Ti-Hau Nga-Ti-Rua-Nui [Vol. VIII, English]

Chapter 24

Chapter 24

The noise my nose now makes
Reveals at once, that I am
Spoken of by thousand lips.
Tis death within to feel
That I now love
The one beloved by all
It was not so, when in
My mouth I loved Te hou-tupu
I then could soundly sleep
With my house and home.
I will to distance go
But o my loved, take
Me though so insignificant
To stream that flows
A head land near
The Kuri aropaoa now
And enter into house of Miroa
And cloth me in the
Whaka rewa rangi mat
And plume well my hair with
Plume of Albatross tail
Nor shame shall then
Come o'er my heart again.
