Chapter XX

Blow o wind to Tu-wai-hora
As coming thou does pass
Across the great O-mere range
(And thou below) extend thy gaze
And look to Ara-pawa, where
The Nga-i-tapahi fleet sail by
(Who say) return o Tau
While still the gale is low
And e're the raged waves
Of Nga-whatu in dreadful billows rise.
Then why should anger be
And battle ………. rage
And day by day I seek To ponder, look or move.
And ………. it be that I
Must sacred be, nor move
Like sacred post be motionless
Or sit on look out stage
Of warrior sentinel, and look
As sea kelp tossed by ocean wave.
But love to the o my Kupu
And thoughts of them and my past acts
Now crowd upon my memory
Yet let the ………. be lost
And let me dive in sacred stream
And then annihilate my love for thee.
