The Founders of Canterbury
Alfred Wills, Esq., 13, Craven Street, Strand. — Reigate, 3rd December, 1849
—The near approach of my son's departure occupies so completely the little strength I have, and New Zealand matters will yet for a Week be in a state so little fit to afford you the opportunity of doing good for yourself, that I wish to postpone till next week the pleasure of seeing you here. My mind will then be free, and some very important questions relating to the colony and the Canterbury settlement will be finally settled.
