The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Rev. W. L. Williams presented and read the Report of the Committee, chosen for the appointment of a Standing Committee.

Rev. Rota Waitoa presented and read the Report of the Committee, to consider the expediency of Fees for Marriage and for other matters connected with the Church.

Mohi Turei presented and read the Report of the Committee, chosen to consider what steps should be taken for the maintenance of Clergy.

Moved by Rev. E. B. Clarke, and seconded by Pitihera Kopu;

"That the Report of the Committee, chosen for the appointment of a Standing Committee be adopted."

Agreed to.

Moved by Rev. W. L. Williams, and seconded by Hoani Ngatai;

"That the Report of the Committee, to consider the expediency of Marriage Fees, and other Church Dues be received."

Agreed to.

Moved by Rewi Tereanuku, and seconded by Maaka Te Ihutu;

"That the Report of the Committee, to consider the provision to be made for the maintenance of Clergy be received."

Moved by Rev. E. B. Clarke, and seconded by Hakaraia Mahika;

"That a Committee be constituted, to assist the Bishop in defining the boundaries of the districts, which are to send representatives to the Diocesan Synod, from Whangaparaoa to Tauranga inclusive."

"That the Committee consist of the Venerable Archdeacon Brown, Rev, C. Baker, Rev. S. M. Spencer, Rev. C. S. Volkner, Rev. Ihaia Te Ahu, and Rev. E. B. Clarke; and that the Venerable Archdeacon Brown be the convenor of that Committee."

Agreed to.

Moved by the Bishop, and seconded by Rev. E. B. Clarke;

That this Synod begs to record its satisfaction on account of the Collection, which has been made by Ngatiporou for the endowment of the Bishoprick, and it recommends, that these efforts should be further persevered in."

Agreed to.

The sum of £1 17 5 collected at Waerengaahika was laid on the table by Wiremu Pere, and a farther sum of £3 15 1 from members of the Synod was presented by Kemara Te Hape. These sums were collected in consequence of the Resolution of the Synod on the 4th of December, that the Gospel ought to be sent to the nations who are sitting in darkness;

No. 13 of the "Standing Orders" was suspended, in order that the following Resolutions might be moved;

Moved by Rev. R. Waitoa, and seconded by Rev. T. Huata;

"That the Right Reverend the Bishop, Rev. W. L. Williams, Rev. R. Kawhia, Anaru Matete, and Wiremu Pere, do constitute the Standing Committee for the ensuing year."

Agreed to.

Moved by Henare Potae, and seconded by Mohi Turei;

"That the Standing Committee be requested to select those Statutes of the General Synod, which concern the native portion of the Church, and also to translate the same, that the natives generally may understand the regulations, which have been made for the government of the Church."

Agreed to.

Moved by Rev. R. Waitoa, and seconded by Rev. R. Kawhia;

"That the marriage fees of this Diocese shall be appropriated, for the present year, to the expenses of printing the Proceedings of the Synod."

A discussion arose upon this motion, and the following page 26amendment was proposed by Henare Potae, and seconded by Mohi Turei;

"That instead of the words, "for the present year, to the expenses of printing the Proceedings of the Synod;" there be inserted the words, "to the use of the clergymen of the various Parishes."

The original motion was then put and carried.

Moved by Rev. E. B. Clarke, and seconded by Henare Potae;

"That Rev. W. L. Williams be treasurer to administer the fund for paying the expenses of printing the Proceedings of the Synod."

Agreed to.

Moved by Pitihera Kopu, and seconded by Rev. R. Waitoa;

"That the members of the Synod beg to record their thanks to the Bishop, and to the inhabitants of Waerengaahika and of Whakato, for the hospitality with which they have been received during their visit."

Agreed to.

Moved by Rev. W. L. Williams, and seconded by Rev. E. B. Clarke;

1. "That collections be made annually in every part of this Diocese, for the purpose of sending the Gospel to those who are in ignorance of it.
2. "That those Collections be paid to the Standing Committee of this Synod.
3. "That the Standing Committee appoint a treasurer, who shall pay the said monies as directed."

Agreed to.

The President delivered a short address, and closed the business of the Synod by pronouncing the Benediction.
