Foreword

The following history is a true and accurate account of the activities of the Third New Zealand Division Tank Squadron from its inception to its disbandment. Every member of the squadron and the ancillary units attached was originally a member of the 1st New Zealand Army Tank Brigade; they were trained soldiers when the squadron was formed, and all felt that, as a unit, they were the fortunate ones to carry on the spirit of the disbanded brigade. The spirit of fellowship and comradeship that was brought into the unit from the brigade was intensified in the squadron, and although all laboured under a sense of frustration at the limited opportunities the unit had in battle, the morale and quiet confidence within the unit never faltered.
