Report on the Victoria University of Wellington Antarctic Expedition 1963-64: VUWAE 8
Lake Bonney
Lake Bonney.
The eastern lobe showed a temperature profile similar to what obtained by previous markers. The maximum temperature was a about 1/2 degree centigrade lower than that obtained by V.U.[unclear: W.A.E.] 7 in the 1962-63 summer and [unclear: almost [gap — reason: illegible] ] C lower than that obtained the summer previously [unclear: an american party] party.
page 8The western lobe proved to have a different temperature profile from the eastern, thus providing additional information to confirm theories of lake level changes. These theories arose from consideration of salt concentrations. Effects of the Taylor Glacier were noticed in the temperature profiles. Both lobes of Lake Bonney fit a simple theory or solar heating.
