Power

Not bomber or sword
Or treason or poison
Can strangle the Word
Or wrangle with Reason.

Not though the dead
A waking should weaken
The will to the deed
By burning and breaking;

Not the whole earth
With weeping and warping
Can Stifle the birth
Of splendour now sleeping.

Only the I,
The traitor, the martyr,
Can redden the sky,
And harbour the hater.
