SMAD. An Organ of Student Opinion. 1937. Volume 8. Number 1.

C. S. Plank, M.SC

C. S. Plank, M.SC.

Last year it was "Smad's" pleasant duty to congratulate Charlie Plank on being elected, while still a student, to the small select group of those who have been honoured with life membership of the Student's Association.

This year it is for us to say farewell ere he departs on promotion to Palmerston North. He will no doubt be down at Capping to have his lately won B.Com degree conferred but henceforth his interest in our affairs must of necessity be a watcher's.

His record is a truly imposing one; Secretary, Committeeman and Vice-President of the Exec.; Tournament Delegate and Chairman of the Tournament Committee; member of Blues Committee and Building Committee each for four years; Cafeteria Controller; four years Secretary and four years Chairman of the Tennis Club; five years in various positions in the Hockey Club. etc., etc.; College Representative and Blue in Tennis; College Representative and College and N.Z. University Blue in Hockey.

It sounds imposing — it mean more than it sounds for it is safe to say that no major project in the administrative life of the Association for some years past has failed to arouse his eager interest — occasionally accompanied with vigorous criticism, usually with energetic, capable and untiring support.
