Mystery
Mystery
I looked to the depth of the heart of a star,
Far through the measureless air;
And I thought that an infinite God dwelt afar,
An infinite mystery, there.
I looked to the heart of the rose in my hand,
Fragrant, unfolding, and fair;
And I thought, in a way I could not understand
The life-giving God must be there.
And I looked in a dream to the heart of a Son—
A falling star's flash from above,
A wind-shattered rose; and I found there the one,
The infinite, life-giving Love.
