Mr. J. W. Hutchings, on June 9th, presented a paper entitled "Some Aspects of Astronomy." The speaker first dealt with the fundamentals of the subject, describing briefly the Solar System, and the idea of a Clestial Sphere. He then selected the Moon as an object of study and went on to explain the terms phase, synodic and sidereal month, elongation, etc. He also showed how the state of the Moon could be worked out for any day in history. After discussion, the meeting adjourned to an excellent supper kinly provided by Mrs. Miles.
