The Fallen Rose
The Fallen Rose.
A gentle rustle from the sweet rose tree
Intrudes upon my musing revery,
In silent shock the shattered blossom lay
Like dying love that fading flects away.
The pink-white petals in confusion spread
As the soft rose her Summer garment shed,
In twilight shadows ebbing, melts away,
A heaped mass in mild perfumed decay.
