A Manly Heart
A Manly Heart.
Shall I. by pining in a ditch.
Die because a woman's rich.
Or shall her lucre me beguile
To yearn and languish for her pile?
This courting can be overdid.
E'en tho' she's worth a million quid,
For if her cash is not for me.
By Heck! say I, to Hell with she!
She that bears a goodly purse
Sure, for that is none the worse;
If she loves me for myself.
Well, I'll love her for her pelf.
But if she squanders all her dough
I'll pack my traps and off I'll go.
For what care I how poor she be
So long as she is not for me?
