Basketball Club

Basketball Club.

Of the three teams which were entered in the Saturday Competitions, one only, the senior B team, met with a great deal of success so far as victories go. This, no doubt, was due to the fact that the enthusiasm shown by members of the teams at the beginning of the year waned noticeably towards the end of the season. This lack of keenness and team spirit was shown up at the weekly practices—only the same meagre few sporting enough to turn out each time. This fact will be taken into consideration next year in the picking of the tournament team.

There is very good material in the teams, but our club is unfortunate enough to be the only senior one of the Association lacking the services of a coach.

Towards the end of the season an effort was made to improve play by practices against a team from the Football Club, whose services we gratefully acknowledge. Certainly, we were more successful after those practices and hope for better results next year.

The Senior A team consisted of:—

Goals.—L. Gray (Capt.), D. Pillar. M. Carty.

Centres.—E. Park, M. Maclaurin, M. Briggs.

Defence.—E. Hardy, M. Thew, S. Marshall.

We are glad to record a pleasant function in connection with our club— the first of its kind—the Basketball Dance. In spite of terrible weather and various outside attractions a large number attended, and spent a most enjoyable evening. Our sincerest thanks are due to Miss Line and the many others who helped to make the dance such a success in every way.
