The Spike: or, Victoria College Review, Annual Extravaganva July 1923
On the Nile
On the Nile.
On the Nile
Guarded by the cruel crafty crocodile,
Where the while
Brooding sphinxes sit inscrutable and
[gap — reason: illegible] smile,
[unclear: by] the mile
Pyramids uprear their monumental pile.
(That's the style,
Fill the lines up though the rhyming's vile.)
Hail to thee,
Nevertite, our fairest Queen and deity.
Glad to see
You and Tut-ankh-Amen unexpectedly.
Joyfully,
We thy subjects paying homage bend the knee;
May you be
Ever happy, rarest royalty.
