Cricket.

The prospects of the Cricket Club for the coming season are exceedingly bright. We hope to be able to put three strong teams in the field, and if our Senior eleven meets with the success which its enthusiasm merits, we shall be obliged to remind Professors Hunter and McKenzie of a promise made at the Kelburne Kiosk some years ago.

Last season the Junior eleven secured the position of "runners-up" for the Junior Championship. This year, with the accession of several new members, we are looking to the "Juniors" to secure the top position; and once again we remind members that such a place can be obtained only by practice!

Two matches were played with other University Colleges last year. We met Canterbury at Christchurch, and Otago at Wellington. These games proved to be two of the most enjoyable we had, and we are looking forward with eagerness to meeting Canterbury College in Wellington and Otago 'Varsity at Dunedin. A V.C. team is to leave Wellington on December 24th, and will arrive in Dunedin on Christmas May. After the match with Otago, the team will journey to Queenstown. A "one-day' match will be played with a Queenstown team, and a similar match will be played at Arrow. About four or five days will be spent in "doing" the Lake. Here is a great variety of scenery—enough to please all tastes—ranging, as it does, from "Paradise" to "Hell's Gate!" Those Club members who have never visited this beautiful spot should come with the team. They will never regret the "happy-go-lucky" picnic parties which are held on Ben Lomond or on the shores of Diamond Lake. But we are becoming reminiscent. Revenons a nos moutons.

Once again we are compelled to touch on the question of finance. We must remind members that they owe their Club a duty—to assist the Committee in every way to make the Club a financial success. We just manage to pay our way, and no more. If all subs. were paid to the Treasurer by December 1st, members would be benefiting both themselves and the Club (vide Rule 16).

However, taking all things into consideration, we expect to do better in every way this season than we have ever done before. We CAN do it if every member will help.
