Land Commissioner's Report.
Claim No. 455a.
Claimant's Name and Address. Baron de Thierry, Hokianga.
Report.—The Commissioner has the honor to report for the
information of His Excellency the Governor that, from the accompanying evidence
taken in Claim No. 455a, he is of opinion that the Native
Chief Taonui, in the year 1837 or thereabouts, made a gift to the claimant of a
tract of land called Pah Kiri Kiri, on the Hokianga River, adjoining [110 acres.] to Mr. Fishwick's claim, as exhibited, in the accompanying map. The
contents are supposed 110 acres. Taonui will point out the boundaries.
The Commissioner therefore respectfully recommends that a grant for the above-described land should be issued to the Baron de Thierry, his heirs and assigns for ever. Excepting 100 feet from high water-mark; and also upon conditions that the right of Taonui to alienate this land be not disputed at the survey by other Natives.
