1837. 20 July.Waimate (Land at).Hear all men this book between George Clarke and Paikoraha—We let go and sell to George Clarke and his children for ever a piece of land to do what he pleases with. Also, whatever is above and below this piece of land. This piece of land lies in the middle of a piece of land purchased from Rewa and Huarahi, and contains two acres more or less. The great name of the place in which this land lies is Waimate. The payment given to Paikoraha is one blanket and one spade. This is our mark and our writing made on the twentieth of July in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ One thousand Eight hundred and thirty-seven.
