Claim
No. 331b.
Report.—The Commissioners have the honor to report, for the information of His Excellency the Governor, that, from the accompanying evidence taken in Claim No. 331b, they are of opinion that on 10th November, 1838, John Johnson made a bonâ fide purchase from the Native Chiefs Tareah, Akero, and others, of a tract of land thus described:—
And also all that Allotment situated on the East side of William Street, No. 21, containing in front and rear 50 feet, and in depth 60 feet, Bounded on the West by William Street; on the North by Lot 22; on the South by No. 20; on the East by No. 15.
A Deed of Sale was executed by the above-named Chiefs and others, and they have admitted the payment they received, and the alienation of the land.
The purchase from the Natives having been proved in Claim No. 361c:
The Commissioners, therefore, respectfully recommend that a Grant of the abovedescribed Land should be issued to Edouard Eugene Cafler, his heirs and assigns for ever. Excepting 100 feet from high-water mark.
