Translation.

1857. 9 April.Poverty Bay District.Hearken all people. This is a giving up by us the family of Taupara of the land hereinafter described the plan whereof is shewn hereon to the Queen of England so that she may Grant it to the Bishop of this part of New Zealand to the Minister of Waerengahika to the Maori teacher of Waerengahika and to other Maoris of the family of Tuapara two or more in number to be kept and looked after by them as a permanent Waerengahika. place of residence for the Minister and a place for the Maori school to be conducted Boundaries. in accordance with the rules of the Church of England.
