Translation.

1854. 5 August.We have received this 5th day of August the sum of Two hundred and ten pounds Piako District. (£210) once told. This is the payment for our land Wakanuku at Piako. The boundary commences at Arohaki thence to Otomopaia, thence to te Popo and on to Wakanuku. Waimanu, Ngaputaka, thence to Tikapu where it turns towards Hiwirau thence to te Aroaro Boundaries. and into the Mangawara stream in the course of which it proceeds to Whareraurikau Receipt for £210, first instalment. and on to the summit of Wakanuku thence to te Rimu and on to Paraherua to Torekareka to Mangakawau to Taukiekie to Mangawero thence to Maungakawa and on to Tikioneone. We have for ever given up this land to Victoria the Queen of England to the Kings or Queens who may succeed her for ever with its stream timber and stones and whatsoever appertains to the said land. When it has been surveyed the final amount of payment will be agreed upon whether it be more or less, according to the ascertained area of the land And in testimony of the receipt of these monies from Mr. McLean on this day we hereunto affix our names and marks.
