1857. 12 March.Kaipara District. Ka nga rone enei o taua kainga ka timata ki Pakiri ka rere ki uta ki te Rauporoa ki Ohaukawa ka rere i te rohe o te Tuatini (Churton) ratou ko Hori te More ko te Kiri puta noa ki Huipapa haere noa i taua rohe puta noa ki Whangaripo haere noa i roto i Whangaripo puta noa ki te awa o Hoteo haere tonu ki Rataroa, Ngatoka, Kaitoto rere noa ki Paekauri ka tae ki Paekauri ka haere tonu i te rohe o te whenua kua hokona ki a te Kuini puta noa ki te manga o Whangateau e tata ana ki Pukekeo ka haere tonu i te tahataha a te Ti, a Omaha ka whakataka Whakatuwhenua haere tonu tuhono noa ki Pakiri. Ko te motu hoki ko Hawere e homai ana ki roto i enei rohe.
Na ko nga moni e toe ake ana mo tenei whenua ara ko nga pauna moni E waru rau £800 ka homai ki a matou ana oti te whakaritenga mo te wahi tuku hou e korerotia nei e matou.

Translation.

1857. 12 March. We have received on this twelfth (12) day of March 1857 the sum of Two Hundred Kaipara District. and seventy pounds (£270) being the first instalment for our land which we have this day given up to Victoria the Queen of England to the Kings or Queens who may Pakiri. succeed her for ever.
Boundaries. These are the boundaries of the said land, Commencing at Pakiri it runs inland to Rauporoa to Ohaukawa and along the survey line of Mr. Churton, Hori te More and Kiri to Huipapa and along that boundary to Whangaripo and in the Whangaripo to the Hoteo river and on to Rataroa, Ngatoka, Kaitoto and to Paekauri on reaching Paekauri it runs along the boundary of the land sold to the Queen and on to that branch of the Whangateau which is near to Pukekeo thence along the coast to Te Ti and Omaha even round to Whakatuwhenua and on till it joins Pakiri. The Island of Hawere is included in this boundary.
Now the balance of this land namely eight hundred pounds (£800) will be paid to us when the arrangements for the new block we are now offering for sale have been completed.

And in testimony of the receipt of these monies namely Two hundred and seventy pounds (£270) and the entire surrender of this land to the Queen of England we have hereunto affixed our names and marks on this 12th day of March 1857.
