1856. 18 April.Manukau District.Kua riro mai ki au na te Makarini nga pauna moni kotahi tekau takitahi (£10) hei utu mo te whakarerenga katoatanga o aku wahi whenua kua riro ki nga pakeha Kopiri, &c. i Manukau ara mo te Kopiri mo Kaitara mo Kokohau mo Witianga mo Receipt for £10 (Ihaia’s claims). Omanawa mo Opurangi ko aua wahi katoa ka tino tukua rawatia e ahau ki a Wikitoria te Kuini o Ingarani ki nga Kingi Kuini ranei o muri iho i a ia ake tonu atu i tenei ra i te tekau ma waru o nga ra o Aperira i te tau o tatou Ariki Kotahi mano e waru rau e rima tekau ma ono.

Translation.

1856. 18 April.Kopiri, &c. I have received from Mr. McLean the sum of Ten pounds being a payment for the final relinquishment of all the claims which have been sold to the Europeans in the Manukau District that is for Te Kopiri for Kaitara, for Kokohau, for Witianga, for Omanawa, for Receipt for £10 (Ihaia’s claims). Opurangi;—all which portions are now entirely given up to Victoria the Queen of England, to the Kings or Queens who may succeed her for ever and ever, on this eighteenth 18th day of April in the year of our Lord 1856.
