Translation.
We have received on this day the 21st day of June in the year of
Our Lord 1854 the 1854. 21 June.
Taitomo. sum of £100 from Mr. McLean for certain land of ours called Taitomo situate
near Hikurangi. Receipt for £100.
These are the boundaries: Commencing at Taitomo thence straight inland to Te Boundaries. Angiangi crossing from there to Waiokahu from thence to the boundaries sold
at Hikurangi from thence towards the sea till it comes out at Te Ahu thence along
the sea coast to Taitomo where the boundaries join together with its rocks, its
trees, and everything appertaining unto it for ever.
Now we have entirely given up this land to Victoria the Queen of England and to the
Kings & Queens who may succeed Her for ever.
The sum of £50 is yet to be paid on the completion of the survey of the land. We
therefore sign our names and make our marks.
