1863. 25 February.Bay of Islands District. Kua riro mai i au inaianei i te ringaringa o Te Henara Kepa Te Kai tuku whenua— Puketutu. Kotahi Rau e Rua tekau pauna moni, ko te Utu ia mo te pihi whenua i te Awa o Te Receipt for £120. Keri Keri tona ingoa ko "Puketutu" i ruritia e matou ko te Pepene, a, ko tetahi ingoa ko Hororoa—a ko te tino otinga o te Mapi, o te wahi nohoanga mo nga Maori, ko reira ata whakapiritia ai o matou ingoa ki te pukapuka Tuku o te Whenua.

Translation.

Waimate, 25th February, 1863
1863. 25 February. I have this day received thro’ the hands of H. T: Kemp, L. P. Commissioner the Sum Puketutu. of One Hundred & twenty pounds sterg., being the payment for the piece of Land Receipt for £120. situated on the Keri Keri River and known by the name of "Puketetu" which has been surveyed by Mr. Fairburn & us together; It is also known by the name of "Hororoa," and when the map is finished and the Reserve marked off for the Natives, we undertake fully to attach our names to the Deed of Conveyance.
