Translation.
Received from Mr. McLean on this eleventh day of September in
the year of our 1855. 11 September. Lord 1855 the sum of £40 for all our claims to Hikurangi that is to all the
lands Hikurangi. which we refused to give up Claims of Aihepene Kaihau. in the Hikurangi Block These I now for ever give up with all thereunto
appertaining. These payments are for Te Kepa and ourselves conjointly. Now this is
the final transfer of this land for ever to Victoria to the Kings Receipt for £40. or Queens who may succeed her for ever. I likewise agree to suppress the
claims of all persons if any come forward to prefer a claim to this land hereafter
and for ever. And in testimony of my consent to all the conditions of this Deed I
hereunto affix my name.
