Kaipara District. e toru rau takitahi, na te Kawanatanga enei moni he moni nama mo runga o matou Tauhoa. whenua kei Kaipara kua oti nei te ruri e Te Mete ko Tauhoa te ingoa nui o taua Receipt for £300, loan. whenua. A ma matou enei moni e whakahoki atu ki a te Rokena mo te Kawanatanga mei puta mai te utu whakamutunga ki a matou.

Translation.

Auckland, 18th April, 1863
We have received this day the 18th of the days of April from John Rogan Esq. the 1863. 18 April. Tauhoa. sum of Three hundred pounds sterling. This is the money of the Government and is a Receipt for £300, loan. loan to us on our land at Kaipara which has been surveyed by Mr. Smith, it is known as Tauhoa that is the name of the whole block. We are to return this money to Mr. Rogan for the Government when the final payment is made to us.
