1862 10 OctoberKaipara District.Mareretu.Na kua whakaaetia mai e Te Rokena kia riro mai ki au nga Pauna moni kotahi rau, Hei utu mo te whakawa a te Uri o Hau kua tukua atu e ahau ki te ringaringa o nga roia. Receipt for £100, advance. Na ko tenei moni ka tukua mo runga i "Mareretu" kei Kaipara tonei whenua na ko enei moni ka whakahokia ano e matou ki te Kawanatanga ana oti taua whenua te ruri.

Translation.

Auckland, October 10, 1862
1862 10 October.This certifies that Mr. Rogan has given me this day the sum of one hundred pounds; Mareretu. this is a payment for the Law suit of the Uri-o-hau that I shall give into the lawyer’s hands.
Receipt for £100, advance. Now this money is advanced on "Mareretu" at Kaipara and when the land is surveyed this money will be repaid.
