Kua riro mai i au inaiauei nga pauna moni e ono tekau ma wha (£64) na te Makarini 1854. 8 July. i homai a mo te rironga mai o nga utu o to matou whenua i Kawhia hei kona ka Kawhia. whakahokia atu ai anei moni ki a te Makarini ko te tikanga tenei o te pukapuka nei. Receipt for £64, advance.

Auckland, July 8, 1854.
I have this day received from Mr. McLean the sum of sixty-four pounds (£64) and 1854. 8 July.Kawhia. when we receive the money for our land at Kawhia then we will return these monies to Mr. Mclean. This is the purport of this document. Receipt for £64, advance.
