Receipt for £40 Takarei's claims waru rau e rima tekau ma wha (1854) nga pauna moni e wha tekau takitahi (£40) hei utu mo aku wahi whenua katoa ki Whaingaroa nga wahi kua utua ki a te Kuini me nga wahi hoki e toe atu ana heoti ano aku meatanga utu mo aua wahi ake tonu atu.

Translation.

1854. 6 July.I have received this sixth day of July in the year one thousand eight hundred Whaingaroa. and fifty four (1854) the sum of Forty (£40) pounds once told as a payment for all Receipt for £40 my claims to land in the Whaingaroa District both for those which have been sold to Takarei's claims the Queen and those which have not and this shall be my last demand upon those claims for ever.

And on the receipt of those monies I hereby acknowledge these lands to be the property of the Queen with their Timber Streams Minerals and all thereunto appertaining and in testimony thereof we hereunto affix our names and marks.
