Whaingaroa.Kua riro mai ki a maua ra te Makarini i tenei ra i te 10 o nga ra o Mei 1854 nga Receipt for £40 pauna moni e wha tekau (£40) no roto i nga utu e tangohia mo nga whenua hou i hokona ki Whangaroa ara he putanga whakaaro ki nga tangata o Kawhia o Aotea mo a ratou wahi katoa ki roto i aua whenua.

Translation.

Auckland, 10 May, 1854
1854. 10 May.We two have received from Mr. McLean on this 10th day of May 1854 the sum of Whaingaroa. Forty Pounds (£40) from the monies to be paid for certain portions of land recently Receipt for £40 purchased at Whaingaroa this being an acknowledgment of the claims of the Kawhia Kawhia and Aotea claims and Aotea people to all those lands.
