Translation.

1854. 12 April.Whaingaroa DistrictWe have received from Mr, McLean on this twelfth (12) day of April in the year of our Lord 1854 the sum of Fifty Pounds (£50) being a payment on account of our land te Waikarakia.
Waikarakia. The total sum that was named by us for that place was three hundred Pounds (£300) When the land shall have been surveyed at a future period the payment will Receipt for £50 be finally arranged. The boundaries of the land commence at te Hue thence to Boundaries Tutaenui and on to Pakoka thence by the river on to Kaikai thence to Okahuroro meeting there the land that was sold by Mr. McLean to Hemi te Puke yesterday.
