1874. 20 February.Coromandel District.Know Ye that, for good considerations Us thereunto moving, We, for Us, our Heirs and Successors, do hereby Grant unto Hohepa Paraone of the District of Hauraki in the Province of Auckland an Aboriginal Native of New Zealand his Heirs and Assigns, All that Parcel of Land in our Province of Auckland in our Colony of New Zealand, Te karo no. II. Grant under Native Lands Acts to Hohepa Paraone. containing by admeasurement One hundred (100) acres more or less situate at Tairua in the District of Hauraki Queen's County being called or known by the name of "Te Karo No. 2" and numbered Two thousand six hundred and eight (2608) Bounded page 442towards the East by the sea towards the South by Te Karo Block One hundred and ninety (190) links Two hundred and fifty eight (258) links Four hundred and twenty Boundaries. Witness our Trusty and Well-beloved Sir James Fergusson Baronet A Member of Our Most Honorable Privy Council; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand, at Wellington this Twentieth day of February in the Thirty seventh year of our Reign, and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

Te Karo No 2 Block (Timber Lease) Hauraki District.

1873. 17 January.Hauraki District.This Deed made the seventeenth day of January, one Thousand eight hundred and seventy three Between Hohepa Pareone of Parawai in the Province of Auckland Colony Te Karo No. II. of New Zealand aboriginal native (hereinafter called the said Grantor) of the one part and Her Majesty Queen Victoria of the other part Witnesseth that in consideration of the Receipt for £25. sum of Twenty Five pounds sterling paid by Her said Majesty Queen Victoria the receipt whereof is by the said Grantor hereby acknowledged He the said Grantor Doth hereby grant convey and assure unto Her said Majesty Queen Victoria her successors and [100 acres.] assigns. All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement One hundred acres more or less and called or known as Te Karo number Two Block the several boundaries of which said piece or parcel of land and the several measurements of the boundary lines thereof are particularly shown and set out on the plan of the piece of land hereby conveyed drawn hereon. Together with all rights members and appurtenances thereto belonging and all deeds thereto relating and all other rights which the said Grantor has or may have in to or out of the said piece or parcel of land To hold the same premises Unto Her said Majesty Queen Victoria her successor and assigns for Subject to grant of timber to John Hawkins Graham. ever Subject nevertheless to the sale and grant of the timber and trees on the said land and the demise of the said land made by a certain deed of grant and demise between the said Grantors of the one part and John Hawkins Graham (therein described) of the other part bearing date the seventeenth day of January One thousand eight hundred and seventy three In witness whereof the said parties have hereunto set their hands the day and year first above written. Henry Grace. and Colony of New Zealand a duly licensed Interpreter under the Native Lands Act, 1865, The Native Lands Act, 1867, The Native Lands Act Amendment 1868 The Native Lands Act, 1869, and The Native Lands Act Amendment Act 1870, do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows
1.That I was present together with John Elliers Dodd of Shortland aforesaid Solicitor, a male adult and did see Hohepa Paraone mentioned and described in the within written deed duly sign and execute the said Deed.
2.That the Signature "Hohepa Paraone" set and subscribed to the said within written deed is of the proper handwriting of the said "Hohepa Paraone."
3.That the signatures W. H. Grace, Gerald O'Halloran set and subscribed to the said within written deed as witness attesting the due execution thereof are of the proper handwriting of the said Gerold O'Halloran and of me this declarant.
4.That immediately before the execution of the said Deed by the said Hohepa Paraone, I did interpret the same to him into the Maori language and that my translation was understood by the said Hohepa Paraone.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the above named Acts of the General Assembly of New Zealand and of a certain other act of the said General Assembly of New Zealand intituled The Justices of the Peace Act 1866.
