1872. 3 September.Coromandel District.This Deed made the third day of September One thousand eight hundred and seventy-two Between Henare Whakarongohau of the district of Coromandel in the province of Taranoho. Auckland and colony of New Zealand aboriginal native of the one part and Her Majesty page 431Queen Victoria of the other part Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and eighty pounds paid by Her Majesty Queen Victoria to the said Henare Whakarongohau (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) He the said Henare Receipt for £380. Whakarongohau Doth hereby convey and assure unto Her said Majesty Queen Victoria her successors and assigns All that parcel of land in our province of Auckland in our colony of New Zealand containing by admeasurement Three thousand seven hundred and ninety-six acres at Whitianga in the district of Coromandel Queen's County being called or known by the name of "Taranoho" and numbered one thousand nine hundred and seventy two Bounded towards the East by lines Three thousand nine hundred and Boundaries. [3,796 acres.] eighty three links, Three thousand three hundred links, by the Maramanuiahohi Creek by lines one thousand six hundred and forty three links one thousand and twenty four links Three hundred and ninety three links, Seven hundred and six links, Four hundred and ninety eight links, Four hundred and seventy one links and one thousand and thirteen links by the Piraunui Greek, by the Waiuaua Block one thousand seven hundred and fifty eight linksThree hundred and thirty eight links One thousand and twenty six links Five thousand six hundred and forty one links, One thousand five hundred and thirteen links and twenty thousand nine hundred and ninety three links, toward the South West by a line Twenty four thousand and thirteen links and toward the North West by lines Sixteen thousand one hundred and eighteen links Two hundred and ninety six links Four hundred and nineteen links, One hundred and seventy six links Five hundred and thirty eight links Two hundred and forty eight links Two hundred and thirty links Two hundred and fifty one links and one hundred and twenty six links, and by the Ounuora Block number two Eight hundred and ten links Six hundred and seven links Five hundred and seventy nine links, Five hundred and five links, Seven hundred and ninety links Three hundred and seventy two links Three hundred and eight links Seven hundred and twenty four links, Seven hundred and eleven links Three hundred and eighty six links Four hundred and thirty one links, Three hundred and sixty four links, Five hundred and eighty four links Five hundred and ninety five links, One hundred and seventy six links Eight hundred and forty three links, Two hundred and sixty six links Six hundred and fifty nine links Nine hundred and fifty nine links Three hundred and twenty eight links, One thousand one hundred and ninety two links, Eight hundred and ninety four links, Two hundred and ninety eight links, Eight hundred and eighty four links, Seven hundred and ninety three links Forty two links Subject however to the right conferred on the Governor of New Zealand by the "Native Lands Act 1865" of taking and laying off roads through the said land without compensation Provided that the total quantity of Land to be taken therefor shall not be more than after the rate of Five acres for every one hundred acres and that the land taken for such Roads be not occupied by any building, garden, orchard, plantation or ornamental ground such right to cease at the expiration of ten years from the date hereof. As the same piece or parcel of land is delineated on the plan drawn hereon edged red Together with all the rights easements members and appurtenances thereto belonging, and all deeds thereto relating To hold the same premises unto Her said Majesty Queen Victoria her successors and assigns for ever In Witness whereof the said parties have hereunto subscribed their names the day and year first herein written.
