Translation.

This Deep entered into on this the 24 of October in this year of our Lord 1857.

1857. 24 October.Coromandel District. Certain subjects of Her Majesty Victoria Queen of England having purchased part of the Island "Poroporo" and also portions of the mainland of Waiau, the final payments for which were not made to the owners of the Land. There are also certain Patapata. Reserves in the land sold belonging to the Patukirikiri Tribe which it is right should now be sold and given up to the Queen of England and her descendants.

Be it known to all men by these presents we the Chiefs and men of the Patukirikiri Tribe living a Kapanga now sell give up and make over the whole of that Island called "Poroporo" the Boundaries of which is the sea on all sides (of said Island).

Boundaries. The boundaries of the main land Block commence at Te Hihi at Te Kapanga creek and on by the canal cut by Mr. Webster tall it reaches a survey line cut by Mr. Heaphy to the gold diggings, thence on in that survey line crossing the Waikarakia creek, and oh to the Nohoangai-o-te-Wharo-o-te-Kiri, thence on to the top of the range of hills to Te-Tihi-o-Taupiri and on to the range to Kaipo, and descending to the sea to Iwhitoto, thence on by the sea shore southward to Whenuakura, thence on by the sea shore to Makariri, Patapata, Te Wairoa Te Tokanga and to Te Muko, Te Kauri and to Ta Hihi. The plan of the Island, and the Block on the main land hereby sold is delineated on the back of this Deed, the full and final payment for these lands has been received by us, being the sum of One Hundred and twenty Pounds, £120-0-0.

Now be it known to all men, that we hereby acknowledge to our haying received the payment for these lands, and we have thought over and bid farewell to and fully given up and made over these lands as specified in his deed, and have also hereunto signed our names and marks.
