Translation.

This Deed of Sale of Land written on this the 8th day of July in the year of our Lord 1854. 8 July.Coromandel District. One thousand eight hundred and fifty (1854.) is a Deed by which we entirely surrender a portion of our land at Waiau (Coromandel Harbour) to Victoria the Queen of England for ever and ever. The principal name of the land is Onekura.
These are the boundaries It commences on the west at Puharakeke from thence to Onekura. Onekura, it falls into the water of Whangarahi from Boundaries. thence in an interior direction from thence to a point a little on this side of the Kowhatu (or stone) the water will show the boundary here it takes a turn it follws the Gully through which the river of Otumoho Mr. Pagitt's homestead. goes, it turns here, it follows the main land until it falls into a swamp it finishes in the middle of the swamp and joins again at Puharakeke. The boundary on the hank of the river Whangarahi we have pointed out in the presence of the European (Pagitt)
And because we have agreed to surrender this Land the Queen of England agrees to pay us the sum of sixty pounds sterling (£60) we surrender this land with its woods Receipt for £60. waters and whatsoever thereto belongs for ever and ever. The money has been paid into our hands by Mr. McLean.

And having received this money we have in token thereof signed our names and marks and in token of the consenting of the Queen of England Mr. McLean the Commissioner for purchasing Land has hereunto signed his name.
