Translation.
1848. 27 May.Manukau District.This Deed written on the 27th May 1848 is the consenting of
us Chiefs of Ngatiwhatua also the consenting of Queen Victoria for herself We
with the men of Ngatiwhatua owners of the Land herein described do with the men
aforesaid hereby agree to sell this Roto. Land to Queen Victoria for the sum of Fifty Pounds sterling now given to
us and we now give up and make over to Victoria the Queen of England and to the
Kings and Queens after her for ever this Land with all rights and
appurtenances—Roto is the name Boundaries. the boundaries of it are these—On the North it commences at Koemoko
thence the boundary runs to Te Auti On the East it is bounded by Government Land
On the South the boundaries commence at "Matawar" thence runs to "Whaiatiapa" On
the West it commences at "Whaiatiapa" thence it runs to Roto thence to Koemoko
where it stops the plan of the Land is drawn on the other side of this.
