1848. 22 March.Manukau District.Ko te tuhituhinga o tenei pukapuka i te ra e rua te kau ma rua o Maehe kotahi mano waru rau e wha tekau ma waru te whakaaetanga mo matou nga Rangatira me nga Te Mako. tangata o Ngatiata te whakaaetanga ano hoki o te Kuini o Ingarani mona, na ko nga Rangatira me nga tangata o Ngatiata nga tangata i te kainga e tuhituhia nei ki tenei Pukapuka, na ka wakaae nei aua rangatira, me aua tangata ki te hoko i tenei whenua ki a Kuini Victoria hei utu mo e rau tekau nga pauna moni ka hoatu nei ki nga rangatira, me nga tangata, no konei, ka hoatu nei, ka tuku atu nei ki a Victoria te Kuini o Ingarani ki te Kingi Kuini ranei o muri i a ia ake ake ake, i taua whenua me nga aha noa Boundaries. iho, aha noa iho o tenei kainga, ko ona rohe koia enei, ka timata ki tetahi wahi i huaina ko Ranaki ka haere tonu i te taha o te awa Manukau, tae noa ki te Aute, ka haere i reira i te kaha o to Epiha kainga, pa noa ki Mungawarowaro, ka haere mai a Pukerewa, haere tonu mai a Hononoa ki Ranaki Ko Mako te ingoa o te kainga kua tuhituhia te ahua o te oneone ki tua nei. Translation.

1848. 22 March.Manukau District. This Deed written on the twenty second day of March One thousand eight hundred and forty eight the consenting of us men and Chiefs of Ngatiteata Also the consenting of Queen Victoria for herself, We the owners of the Land herein described do hereby Te Mako. consent to sell this land to Queen Victoria for the sum of Twenty Pounds Sterling now given to us And we now give up and make over to Victoria the Queen of England and to the Kings or Queens after her for ever this land and all appurtenances. These are Boundaries. the boundaries—Commencing at a place named Ranaki thence along the river Manukau till it reaches Te Aute thence till it reaches Epiha's Land adjoining Mangawherowhero thence to Pukeruia thence till it adjoins Ruaki. Mako is the name of this place.
