Translation.

This Deed written on this second day of November in the Year of our Lord 1864 is a 1864. 2 November.Manuku District. full and final sale conveyance and surrender by us the Chiefs and people of the Tribe Ngatiteata whose names are hereunto subscribed and Witnesseth that on behalf of ourselves our relatives and descendants we have by signing this Deed under the shining Waiuku No. II. sun of this day parted with and for ever transferred unto Victoria Queen of England Her Heirs the Kings and Queens who may succeed Her and Her and their Assigns for ever in consideration of the Sum of five thousand two hundreds and fifty Pounds (£5250 - 0 - 0) to us paid by Henry Hanson Turton Special Commissioner on behalf of Price of block, £5,250. the Queen Victoria (and we hereby acknowledge the receipt of the said monies) all that piece of our Land situated at Waiuku and named Waiuku the boundaries whereof are set forth at the foot of this Deed and a plan of which Land is annexed thereto with its trees, minerals, waters, rivers, lakes, streams, and all appertaining to the said Land or beneath the surface of the said Land and all our right title claim and interest whatsoever thereon To hold to Queen Victoria Her Heirs and Assigns as a lasting possession absolutely for ever and ever. And in testimony of our consent to all the conditions of this Deed we have hereunto subscribed our names and marks. And in testimony of the consent of the Queen of England on her part to all the conditions of this Deed the name of Henry Hanson Turton Special Commissioner is hereunto subscribed. These are the boundaries of the Land commencing at Te Pa o Kokako on the Manukau Harbor Boundaries, and following thence along the coast line of the Manukau Harbor and the coast line of the Waiuku-River to the Township of Waiuku thence along the boundary of the Waiuku Block to the Awaroa Stream thence along the course of the Awaroa Stream to its junction with Waikato River thence along the banks of the Waikato River to its mouth, following thence along the West Coast line to the entrance of Manukau Harbor at Te Pa o Kokako where the boundaries commence. The arrangement according to which this sale is effected will be found on the memorandum appended to this deed. But the Blocks of land within these boundaries formerly purchased by the Government are not included within the terms of this Deed.

5.Ko nga whenua i tauia nei, kua ruritia hei kainga tuturu mo nga tangata, kua tuhituhia hoki ki te mapi nei, ka tukua iho i runga i te Karauna-Karaati ki Ngatiteata, me a ratou uri, ake tonu atu. Engari te Karauna-Karaati ki a Aihepene Kaihau, ki a Hori Tauroa, ki a Paora te Iwi mo nga rau eka e rima (500 acres) i hoatu ai, ka whakaritea iho ki a ratou tokotoru, mo ratou ake ano.

3.This is the mode in which the purchase money will be paid to the Ngatiteata, now, Mode of payment. and during the next three ensuing years, That is,

4.If any person shall hereafter arise, asserting that a portion of this land belongs to him, and it his claim be proved to be correct, his demand shall be settled out of the Purchase money above named, But this will have no reference to the persons who continue in rebellion, nor to the Ngatitipa in regard of their claim on the Awaroa. It will be for the Government to arrange with them.
5.The lands above recounted and which have been surveyed as a perpetual residence for the people, and which are described on the plan annexed, shall be settled by a Crown Grant upon the Ngatiteata and their children in perpetuity. But the Crown Grants to Aihepene Kaihau, to Hori Tauroa, and to Paora te Iwi, for the five hundred acres (500 acres) granted to them, shall be conveyed to them personally (i.e., by Special Grant).
