1855. 23 December.Manukau District.Whereas by a Deed written on the ninth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five (1855) by us the chiefs and people of Ngatiteata we sold to the Queen Victoria of England to the Kings or Queens who may succeed her Okokeka No. II. for ever the land called Whakaupoko and Waiuku, the boundaries of which are,—commencing Boundaries. at Okokeka thence along the boundaries of the land formerly sold to the Queen and on that boundary line to the waha o Ruamano thence to Ngateke, thence to the Waikato river, up the Waikato river to te Awaroa and in the course of the Awaroa to Dalziel's purchase thence to the Waiuku river and in the Waiuku river to te Karaka page 337and along the sea coast to Okokeka where the boundaries meet. This land was given up in consideration, of the sum of One thousand one hundred pounds (£1100) Five hundred pounds (£500) of this money we received from Mr. McLean Principal Land Price, £1,100. Commissioner on that day. One hundred pounds (£100) was to be paid to Wiremu Hoete and when the survey was completed the remaining Five hundred to us. Now we have received the final payment of Five hundred pounds (£500) from Mr. Johnson a Receipt for £500, final instalment. Land Purchase Commissioner for the Governor of New Zealand. Wherefore we fully give up the said land to the Queen Victoria of England and to her descendants, with its rivers, streams, lakes, stones, cliffs, and soil; its timber, pastures, and all thereunto appertaining.
