Translation.

This Deed or sale of land, made on this the 29th day of June in the year of our Lord 1854. 29 June.Manukau District. One thousand eight hundred and fifty four 1854, is a Deed by which we the Chiefs and people of the Ngatiteata do faithfully consent to sell a portion of our Land to Victoria Okokeka No. I. the Queen of England and to the Kings or Queens who may succeed her for ever and ever.
Boundaries. The Boundaries of the land are these. It commences at Okokeka, it then follows the line of the boundary of the land sold to the Queen, following that boundary until it reaches the Te Waha-o-ruamano, from thence to Ngakete, from thence nntil it reaches the river Waikato, it then follows the course of the river Waikato until it reaches the Awaroa, it then follows the course of the Awaroa river until it reaches the boundary of Mr. Dalziel, following that line until it reaches the stream or water of Waiuku—the boundary then follows the river or stream of Waiuku until it reaches Te Karaka—it then follows the coast line until it reaches Okokeka, here the boundaries unite again.
Price £1,100. And because we have thus given our consent, in open day, to surrender for ever the whole of the lands within these boundaries, the Queen of England consents to pay us Receipt for £500, first instalment. the sum of One thousand one hundred pounds Sterling (£1100;), Five hundred pounds (£500) of this money we have received at the hands of Mr. McLean—One hundred For Wiremu Hoete, £100. pounds of this money (£100) is for William Jowett, in consideration of his, and his people's claims within these boundaries.
Balance remaining, £500. When the survey is made, then shall the other Five hundred pounds be paid to us, this will be the final and complete payment to be made to us for this land for ever and ever.

We have now taken leave of, bade farewell to and entirely surrendered this land; as a sacred land for Victoria the Queen of England for ever and ever,—with its rivers, Waters, Forests, Minerals, Pastures, sacred places, and whatsoever belongs, above and below the land, is now given over to the Queen of England for ever and ever.

And having given our, true consent to the provisions contained in this Deed, we have hereunto signed our names and marks, and the Queen having given her consent Donald McLean the Commissioner of the Government hereunto signs his name.
