Translation.

1848. 13 October.Manukau District.This Deed written on the 13th day of October 1848 is an agreement on the part of us Chiefs of Ngatiwhatua and of the Queen of England on her own behalf.
Whereby we the owners of the place described in this Deed consent to sell this Pukeatua. land called Pukeatua to Queen Victoria in consideration of thirty pounds sterling now paid to us wherefore we give and deliver over to Victoria Queen of England and to Her Successors for ever that piece of land with all thereto belonging the boundaries of Pukeatua are as follows—
Boundaries. The Eastern boundary commences at Ruatuna on the side of the Waikomiti (Creek) where there is a post driven in, goes Northward to the summit of the range of the To-o-Parahiku and this is also the boundary of the land sold to Mr. Porter the Northern boundary goes thence along the summit of that ridge To-o-Parahiku the Western boundary turns and comes round on the summit of a ridge called Otupanga to Muriohiku-rangi thence to the point of commencement to Ruatuna the Plan of the land is drawn on the other side.
