Translation.

This Deed written on the seventh of September 1848 is an agreement between us 1848. 7 September.Manukau District. Chiefs of Ngatiteata and the Queen of England on her own behalf Whereby we Chiefs of Ngatiteata the owners of the Land described in this Deed agree to sell this Land to Queen Victoria in consideration of two hundred pounds sterling now given to us Te Ngaio. Wherefore we give and deliver over to Victoria Queen of England and to Her Successors after her for ever that piece of Land with all thereto belonging; its boundaries are as Boundaries. follows commencing at the mouth of the stream Ranaki at follows its course and then Hamlin's boundary to Mangawharawhara thence to a certain part of the summit of the ridge called Maungahuia then follows that ridge some distance to Huianui and thence to Kakaroa completing the boundaries on the North and West the Southern boundary turns to the water's edge at Kopia where it ends and where there is a mark made thus [unclear: ;] it (the boundary) goes along the water's edge to Koropepeke where there is a mark made turns inland to a hill called Omapihi goes along the summit of that ridge to another hill page 318called Pakehakauahi and then turns to the sea side to Wairere where a mark is made upon the rock thence it goes and reaches the point of commencement. Ngaio is the name of this land the plan of it is drawn on the other side.
