Translation.

1853. 1 August.Kaipara District.This Deed entered into on the first day of August in the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty three the consenting of us the Chiefs of the Nga Tiwhatua also the consenting of the Queen of England on her part now we the owners of the Land agreed Mangatoetoe. to in this Deed do consent to sell this Land to Victoria Queen of England in payment of One Hundred Pounds now given to us for this we give and make over to Victoria Queen of England and her Heirs for ever this Land and all thereto belonging the Boundaries are these, on the North beginning at a small patch of trees on the creek of Boundaries. Kumeu going thence in a straight line to the ridge of Raupo Tamaki on the West going on the ridge of Raupo Tamaki and on to Papatawhara and on to Huranui and on to Mangatoetoe until it gains the peak of Pukematikeo being the Boundary of Mr. MacFarlin's claim on the South by Mr. MacFarlin's claim turning and going along the Boundary of Mr. Brigham's claim until it gains the top of Pukewhakataratara on the East from Pukewhakataratara in a direct line to the small patch of trees at Kumeu joining the Northern Boundary. Should any man repudiate this sale of Land we agree to satisfy his claim. A sketch of the Land is on the other side.
