Translation.

1853. 1 August.Kaipara District.This Deed entered into on the first day of August in the year 1853 the consenting of us the Chiefs of the Ngatiwhatua also the consenting of the Queen of England on her part, now we the owners of the land agreed to in this Deed do consent to sell this Land Kumeu. to Queen Victoria in payment for One Hundred Pounds now given to us, for this we give and make over to Victoria Queen of England and her Heirs for ever this Land and Boundaries. all thereto belonging. The Boundaries are these, on the North beginning at the creek Ngongitepata and then by the Boundary of Mr. Fulton's claim, on the West by the creek of Kumeu until it joins the Boundary of Mangatoetoe as sold by Paul to the Crown, on the South by the Boundary of Paul's land as sold to the Crown until it strikes the top of Pukewhakataratara, thence to the Boundary of Mr. Brigham's claim, on the East it takes Mr. Brigham's Boundary until it joins Ngongitepata creek following thence until it joins the Northern Boundary.

Should any man repudiate this sale of land we agree to satisfy his claim.
